5th Grade Formal Dance Thursday, May 25th, 6pm-8pm

Some info on the dance Thursday:

1. No Dates! You may go as groups of friends.
2. Professional portraits will be taken! $5 per picture, no matter how many people in the picture!
3. Girls: Dresses Boys: Nice shirt and pants. Tie optional.
4. Chaperones are needed! Please email Mr. E      brettemerson91@gmail.com if you'd like to help with setup, hall monitoring, or snacks.
5. We need donations! We want to keep the dance free for everyone. Donations are being accepted to help make this happen. Please send donations with your child in an envelope. Thank you!

Volcano Project Rubric

Project Completion Date is Friday, April 21st@ 9:00am on the Grahamwood Playground (weather permitting; all parents welcome)

- 3-5 students per group. (20 points) __________________

- Each group will research, design, and produce their own volcano model. Must show evidence. (80 points)_______________

- Each group will create a model of their volcano on white copy paper showing dimensions, labels, color, etc.  (50 points)

- Each group will successfully erupt their model on the Grahamwood playground. (100 points) _________________

- Each student will contribute supplies, knowledge, or hard work to the group’s volcano project. (50 points) ___________________

- Each student will submit a paper describing A) The process(es) that cause volcanoes to form/erupt. B) The process that your group went through to complete the project. C) Your reflection on the work your group did together. Yes, spelling and grammar matter! There is almost never a time in your academic life when they do not. (150 points)_________________

Mr. Emerson will provide a rigorous, creative and enjoyable environment in which to complete this project. All other supplies are the responsibility of the student groups. Groups may need to meet outside of school. If that is not possible, after school time will be made available. Graduation and Dance Dates and Notes

Hello everyone! I am awarding 50 points of extra credit to every student who has their parent send a note that they saw this post!

Graduation Day: Tuesday, May 23rd - 9:00am-11:00am in the Grahamwood Cafeteria.

Notes: Parents, I have three pieces of advice for graduation day: arrive early, arrive early, and arrive early. Parking fills up so fast, and people actually begin sitting down around 8:00-8:15. That's pretty early and not necessary, but I would counsel you to plan to arrive no later than 8:30am.

After the ceremony, please stick around for our Friends and Family Cookout! Burgers, dogs, chips, and drinks will be served.

5th Grade Formal Dance: Thursday, May 25th - 6:00pm - 8:00pm in the Grahamwood Cafeteria

Notes: This is probably the most fun and memorable event of 5th grade! It's such a great way to close out the amazing 5th grade year we've had together. Parents, please let Mr. E know if you would like to volunteer for setup, take down, or chaperoning the dance itself (if you kid will let you!). We will also be looking for donations to cover some of the extra costs in order to keep this event free for every Grahamwood 5th grader!

End of the Year Water Fight: Friday, May 26th - 9:00am - 10:00am - Grahamwood Playground

Notes: Parents, siblings, everyone come join us we soak each other to the bone (in a calm and respectful manner)! This will be a huge laugh fest and one last hurrah. This event is for Martin and Emerson homerooms only, not 5th grade-wide.
